The Chippewa Savannas Chapter is partially within the Driftless Area of western Wisconsin. The area contains dry hill prairies commonly found in the Drfitless Area, but we also have savannas throught the chapter's area. In additon, river terrace prairies and savannas are found along our large rivers. We share our knowledge within our membership, and with others through outreach activities. The Chippewa Savannas Chapter covers Pepin, Dunn and Eau Claire Counties in Wisconsin. In addition to holding work days at the two sites, the chapter work days will include efforts on members’ personal native prairies and savannas. Visit our chapter workdays webpage and calendar to find specific information about the work dates and the site pages to learn more about the two chapter management projects.
Workshops Education about preservation of prairie, savannas, and barrens and protection of native plants and critters is an important part of our chapter mission. In April the chapter will be sponsoring a beginning prescribed burn crew training and in May we will be hosting a workshop on lichens. Check out the page for each event and the calendar for more information.
Having a good time is a fun collateral benefit to our protection of and education about area native prairies.
