|Calling all chain saw operators with their own equipment, and brush haulers and pilers! Please join us for a second work party on Rattlesnake Ridge bluff, one of TPE's newest preserves, to clean up downed trees, cut and pile trees/brush and burn piles. We will be clearing treefalls while establishing new firebreaks on the bluff top in preparation for the first introduction of fire to this woodland site. While the Rattlesnake Ridge prairie has been undergoing restoration for 25 years, this will be the beginning of our work on the bluff. It is a beautiful site with rock outcrops, mature sugar maples, burr and white oaks, and many spring ephemerals and savanna species waiting to be released. The views of the Wisconsin River valley are stunning! We are excited to begin the transition back to savanna. Please join us and witness the changes from the start!
Lunch and camaraderie provided afterwards.
What to Bring/Wear: Loppers provided, but your favorite tools welcome. Safety chaps and head, ear and eye protection are required for chainsaw operators. Be prepared for a 10-minute hike on a steep path. All-wheel drive vehicles may be able to drive to the bluff, weather dependent.
