This Field trip is Cancelled! "Unfortunately, I need to cancel my field trip for Foxglove Savanna. I double-booked myself and will not be in town on that day."
Come and explore the many species of grassland and savanna that bloom (Phlox pilosa, Lithospermum canescens, Viola pedata, Hypoxis hirsuta and many Carex sp.), nest (Field Sparrow, Bobolink, Henslow’s Sparrow, Red-headed Woodpecker and Orchard Oriole) or buzz (Bumblebees). We will ramble over savanna and grassland communities that have been under management for 1 – 3 decades, seeing the types of short and long-term change that management brings.
Bring hiking boots as we will be walking on rough ground and climbing moderately steep hills. Insect repellents, drinking water and sunscreen may be needed.
Time: 2 – 5 pm
