Eric Preston and Kim Kreitinger are leading a field trip to their new property near Arena. Kim and Eric bought 38 acres adjacent to TPE's Swenson Bluff Prairie near the town of Arena in May this year.
This land was formerly owned by Ted and Jeanne Buehlman and had been in the Buehlman family for over 120 years. TPE wanted to buy the land, but the Buehlmans sold it to a developer last year, and Eric and Kim bought the western lot in May. They have a management agreement with TPE and have already started restoration activities.
The property has unplowed prairie on the hills with many wonderful plants and rock outcrops. One of the highlights of this property is a population of Agalinis skinneriana or Pale False Foxglove, one of only four known sites in Wisconsin.
Hopefully, the Agalinis will be blooming for this field trip, but even if it isn’t, there are many other wonderful things to see.
Come join us for this trip! Stay as long as you like, but the formal "hike" will only be about an hour.
