TPE placed a conservation easement on this property in 2018. Come see the results of management efforts to enhance and enlarge these privately-owned hill prairies. Species in bloom should include asters (silky, aromatic, smooth, sky-blue, and heath), Rough blazing-star, False boneset, Rough false foxglove, and Goldenrods. There are also prairie plantings on the lower slopes to see. The hike will require a moderately steep hike (an ATV trip could shorten the hike for some). If possible, please notify the trip leader if you plan to attend.
Directions: Meet at W603 Kirkeng Road in eastern La Crosse County. From Rockland, take Hwy J south 3.2 miles from the I-90 overpass to Kirkeng Road (on the right). The bridge on Hwy J is currently under repair, so call the trip leader prior to the hike to see if the road is open.
